Abstract- Project 3

“Sex sells” is common phrase used in the business of advertisement. Rarely do people hear radio commercial advertising bras, this is because it would be ineffective due to the fact that humans are visual beings. Bra advertisements have always used visual aids to lure their customers. In the past, bra advertisements overall theme was comfort and support. Overtime they have evolved into a movement of women taking pride in their bodies and finally to just being sexually attractive. Bra companies such as Victoria’s Secret are borderline pornography with the models not merely modeling a bra but the ad takes it beyond that. Reactions to these ads are based off the time period in which the ad was shown. The attitudes and tolerance level to these commercials have changed slowly as society as a whole became more free spirited. Women, men, and children are affected in some way by these advertisements either in a beneficial or adverse way. These ads have founded a way by frequent expose to become accepted in todays society.

Abstract- Silent Scream

This paper will exam the many different techniques that a physician used to persuade his listeners, preferably those contemplating having an abortion, that abortion is equivalent to murder. The doctor thoroughly thought out his word choice so that he can leave a lasting impression on listeners and used specific images to invoke a desired response immediately. The rhetorical techniques of ethos, pathos, and logos are vividly portrayed throughout the entire clip. Doctor Bernard used his reputation as a foundation and then used his knowledge and inborn human emotions to build up his argument.

Rabbit-Run Wrake

In his video “Rabbit” Run Wrake bluntly portrays the materialistic mentality that many people have.  Ironically, he used children as the main characters that just were not satisfied with anything that they had. It all started with the young girl wanting some thing she didn’t have and didn’t even need. Clearly, the children start to long for more and more jewels to become rich and it didn’t matter who or what got hurt. Many have sacrificed families, relationships, morals, and even their own lives to gain material things. The more and more that the children gained the more they wanted. In the end, material possessions don’t have any lasting value and deceive their owners into believing that it will bring them happiness, security, and longevity. I I noticed he used pathos in the music and murderous graphic images. He used logic by showing how the kids schemed up a plan on how to obtain more jewels and towards the end when the kids got punished for their wrongs.

Research Plan/Abstract

The world we live in today is drastically different compared to many of our parents days.  What was suitable for one generation may not be for another.  Children today are so accustomed to visual aids through the constant use of television and computers.  Technology has demanded our all of our attention.  With video games, computers, music players, and other electronic devices consuming most children’s time, reading books may not be appealing to them.  With books joining the team of electronics, it may having a fighting chance to capture the attention of all.  In addition, due to numerous cut backs in education, it would be a good investment for schools to buy e-books.  In essence, both sides, schools and students, can benefit from e-books.

Public Writing- Only in a mad world →

I hate to see poor people at a disadvantage and rich people just going about their lives blindly in bliss.  So I chose to comment on the huge gap between the rich and the poor.  I pointed out the ugly truths of life which at times has to be done to drive home a point and motivate change.  The video used many avenues to evoke pathos.  The detailed pictures, words and moving music really struck a cord in me.  I want to help in any way I can but Im only one person.  I try to use words to bring unity and also to guide ones to focus on the same goal. In the end thats what will really make a significant difference in our world.
